I Can Only Imagine A World of Peace

I can only imagine a world where we treat a human being as another human being; a friend, not as a chess piece or a means to an end. Where we look past religion, ethnicity and the color of one's skin, and place the emphasis on the human soul that is living there within.

I can only imagine a world where we put down the phone and exemplify how one should lead, where we don't throw out empty words and hide behind them on social media feeds. Where we set aside the tissues and let the world see something move us to tears, where we swallow our pride, break down the barriers and show the world our fears.

I can only imagine a world where the life stories shared by others carry more weight, than the assumptions and stories that we, ourselves, are so quick to create. Where we, and those we love, have the opportunity to live a prosperous and long lifetime, where no life is taken too soon because of bullying, senseless violence or hate crimes.

I can only imagine a world where streets are free from fights of weaponry, where we shift away from video games and tv giving a false sense of reality. Where we put an end to social, physical and mental stigmas that negatively label or define, where seeking to understand another's challenges becomes the bottom line, every time.

I can only imagine a world where we work together collectively and effectively, where we look at each other objectively and respectfully. But until we make the hostility, the hate and the lack of concern all cease, I will continue to imagine a world living in such peace.
